Forest Management Planning

In co-operation with our customer we will develop a concept specifically suited for his or her enterprise.

The resulting forest management plan comprises instructive and descriptive text, tables, diagrams, and digitally created forest management maps.

Inventory

Those who want to leave the trodden paths of forest management planning have the choice of inventory by sample.
This method offers several advantages:

  • Reduced cost
  • Exact data at an enterprise level
  • Information on assortment and quality structure

More Ways to Use Planning Data

The data gathered for the creation of management plans may be used for other purposes as well: directly linking the database with cartographical and other forest management applications opens up a host of possibilities:

  • Enterprise specific database evaluations and reports
  • Plotting of working maps
  • Visual representation of database queries
  • Maps on certain aspects of management (focal maps)
  • Area-based balance figures
  • Updating of information

Planning / Realization

The implementation module of the Forest Management Planning (FE) database allows the setting up of detailed annual plans, advance calculation of profits and comparison of nominal vs. actual status.

Management Information System (MIS)

Based on an appropriate concept for the collection of field data, the forest management planning data plus respective applications constitute the basis for an MIS.

The main advantages are:

  • Increased transparency of organisational processes (workflow)
  • Flexibility of weekly, monthly, and annual planning
  • Comparison of nominal vs. actual performance
  • Visualization of planned/completed measures
  • Ease of data management with up-to-date applications (e.g. COMFORST)
  • Reduced administration cost incurred by a smaller number of forest management units of increased size
